Greater Richmond School of Music To All Instructors
Nathan Aldhizer has been teaching with Greater Richmond School of Music since 2016, and he has become one of our most prolific and loved
instructors. He graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University Magna Cum Laude in December 2006 with a Bachelor Degree in
Classical Guitar Performance, where he also studied the cello as his secondary instrument. He currently performs with the Richmond
Guitar Quartet, which he founded in 2004. The RGQ appears regularly in various concert series throughout Virginia, including the
VCU Guitar Concert Series and the Randolph Macon Concert Series with banjo/mandolin/jazz guitar virtuoso Adam Larrabee. The RGQ was also recently featured on NPR’s Hour with the Guitar, and is currently working on a recording project. In addition to performing, Nathan is a composer and arranger, and regularly creates repertoire for the RGQ, ranging from
Beethoven’s classical works to Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody. In addition to playing and arranging for the RGQ, Nathan enjoys
performing with the Richmond Community Guitar Ensemble. Nathan loves music of all kinds and teaches guitar at all levels and
styles, including rock, blues, classical, folk, metal, and introductory jazz. He also teaches beginning through intermediate piano
ukulele and banjo, as well as beginning cello and violin. Nathan teaches all music classes at CCA.
