Julie Welch To All Instructors
Julie is passionate about Jesus and her family and has been fascinated with words from a very young age. In fact, she was awarded an English scholarship from Longwood University (Longwood College at the time) and graduated with honors and a BA in English/Secondary Education. Upon graduation, she taught high school and middle school English in several Virginia public schools in the following years. When her husband was active-duty Army and stationed in Colorado, she used this opportunity to try something new. She wrote and edited for The Mountaineer, the Ft. Carson newspaper, and also worked in the radio broadcasting department at Focus on the Family. Although she enjoyed both jobs, once she was blessed with her daughter, she began homeschooling her from the beginning and was reminded that teaching was what she was meant to do. Julie and her husband served together as high school youth leaders for 15 years, and she has been a substitute teacher for nearly every subject and grade. She continues to serve in the children’s ministry and looks forward to sharing her joy for literature and writing, especially in an environment that encourages youth to grow in their faith. Julie lives with her handsome husband of 23 years and their two goofy Labrador retrievers. Their daughter is only home for college breaks now as she pursues an English/writing degree. If her daughter ever reads this bio, she wants her to remember that every successful author writes a dedication to the people who most influenced and inspired them. Hint. Hint. This is obviously a joke(ish).
