Tanya Williamson To All Instructors

Tanya Williamson began homeschooling many years ago while raising her three children. At the time, she was teaching third grade and the Gifted Program at Heritage Christian Academy in Chesterfield. Although she loved the classroom, Tanya felt called to step away from traditional teaching in order to stay home with her children and begin their homeschooling journey. In 2005, Tanya and Ms. Francis founded what was then known as Cloverhill Christian Academy (now Chesterfield Christian Academy) as a small group focused on hands-on science. From its humble beginnings with just 16 students, CCA has grown steadily through the dedication of its leadership and an exceptional team of tutors. Tanya has been deeply involved in that growth, working alongside Ms. Francis in both instructional leadership and the many administrative roles required to support a thriving academic community.

All three of Tanya’s children have long since graduated, and are now married with careers of their own, but her passion for homeschooling and tutoring remains near and dear to her heart. Her educational background includes degrees in English Literature from Christopher Newport University, Early Childhood Development from J. Sargeant Reynolds (JTCC), and History from Mary Baldwin College. She also holds the highest level of certification from the National Tutoring Association.

In the spring of 2024, Tanya suffered a traumatic brain injury and stepped away from teaching for a two-year hiatus. During that season of recovery, God brought art into her life in a remarkable way, using it as a powerful and unexpected part of her healing process. Over the past two years, Tanya has studied art extensively and traveled internationally to experience many of her favorite works in person.

With the fall of 2026, Tanya is excited to return to teaching, uniquely equipped to combine her lifelong love of history with her newfound passion for art. She looks forward to bringing a richer, more integrated perspective into the classroom—one shaped by experience, perseverance, and deep gratitude for the journey.

Outside of teaching, Tanya enjoys hiking in the mountains with her dogs, Hank and Charlie, and traveling with her husband.
